European Commission validates Nereid’s breakthrough technology

For years, Nereid has anticipated a world where water, food, energy and strategic minerals would become increasingly interconnected.

From growing water scarcity and food insecurity to critical resources and fragile global supply chains, these challenges are rapidly becoming global strategic priorities.

Increasing geopolitical tensions are making decentralised, resilient and locally autonomous solutions not only relevant, but increasingly necessary.

Today, this vision receives independent European Commission validation.

Nereid has successfully passed Stage 1 of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator, under the “Deep Tech for Climate Adaptation” Challenge, and has been invited to submit its Full Proposal.

This recognition confirms Nereid’s positioning beyond conventional desalination: a deep-tech Waste-to-Value platform combining freshwater and strategic resource recovery with stand-alone local biofertilizer production — strengthening water, food and industrial resilience while eliminating liquid brine discharge.

The EIC independent experts concluded:

“The deep tech nature of the proposed innovation is convincingly demonstrated.”

“The proposed solution has the potential to achieve a breakthrough in the environmentally sound and economically viable desalination of seawater.”

“It does as such represent a clear improvement in cost and performance over the extant technologies.

What we anticipated is becoming a strategic necessity.

What we developed is now independently recognised as breakthrough technology.
