When we met Carlos Iberri, the CEO of Agrocir three months ago, he recounted that he believes in ‘the future of agriculture through technology’. His agricultural farm, in existence for three generations was facing an existential threat, due to a lack of water and salt infiltration in the wells utilised to irrigate his farm’s vast range of high-quality agricultural crops.
Nereid proposed its ground-breaking, climate-smart agriculture concept, a combined climate controlled hydroponic greenhouse and thermal desalination solution, which would allow him to maintain grow and ensure the survival of his business for future generations.
After receiving a positive endorsement/valuation for a feasibility study, Nereid signed the MoU, launching the first step in a long, successful collaboration.
Nereid has submitted to the Sub National Climate Fund an application for technical assistance, which is being currently assessed, in order to initiate a feasibility study. This promises to be a disruptive innovation in climate smart agriculture and a showcase pilot project for the Latin American region.
